When you install your wireless card, use the default network settings. This enables DHCP, which allows the network to assign things to your computer for you, like your network address.

After installation, if you are near a wireless access point, the card should automatically locate it. It is possible to help this process by configuring the software that controls your card to look for "ncsu" access points. Look for something called an SSID number and type in "ncsu" for that value. (Omit the quotes). It is possible that you will not even need to do this.

If you see blinking lights on the wireless card, this means you have network activity, and you should be ready to go. Open a web browser and you will automatically (by default) get the Nomadic Computing Access page. If this does not happen automatically, go to http://nomad.ncsu.edu for the Nomadic access page. On the left-hand side of the page, you will see the login prompt. Enter your Unity/Eos login ID and password. After you are authenticated, it will tell you how much time you have (for security reasons, wireless access via Nomad has to be refreshed after a set amount of time).
