Installing Fink on OS X 10.3 (Panther)

IMPORTANT

• You will need administrator access to your machine to install Fink. If you do not have administrator access, contact your system administrator.

1. Download the latest version of Fink from: http://fink.sourceforge.net/
2. Double click the file you downloaded to mount the disk image
3. Open the disk image and double click on the Fink Installer.pkg file
4. Follow the on screen instructions for installing Fink
5. Type the following into the terminal and hit return: sudo fink scanpackages
6. Enter your password when prompted
7. Type the following into the terminal and hit return: sudo apt-get update
8. Type the following into the terminal and hit return: sudo apt-get upgrade
9. If you are familiar with using apt-get to install UNIX applications, you're done
10. If you would prefer a graphical interface to Fink, copy the Fink Commander folder from the disk image to your Applications folder and use the program inside called Fink Commander
