EB II 1003 is better known as the [http://www.ece.ncsu.edu/seniordesign/troxler.php '''Troxler Design Center'''], used for students to work on their [http://www.ece.ncsu.edu/seniordesign/ ECE Senior Design projects]. The Troxler Center gets its name from William Troxler, who donated $157,000 to completely renovate one of the ECE laboratory's. His donation marked the first time an individual had donated money to entirely renovate a lab or a facility. The Troxler Center was opened on November 12, 1997 by Mr. Troxler himself. Mr. Troxler attended North Carolina State University. In 1962 got a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. Since then he has turned the company he created, Troxler Electronic Laboratories Inc., into a large, international corporation. Following the move, the Troxler Design Center was given a state-of-the-art room, giving students much more workspace to complete their projects and updating all the monitors to flat panels as well.

The ECE Senior Design projects are very simple in nature. A group of students is given small description of product concept, and then must create that product. They get resources from company donations and others they purchase at local stores. At then end of the  semester, the students must present the project along with a project report for a grade. The Troxler Design Center is available for students to work on their Senior Design Projects when needed. Each Senior Design group is assigned a workstation with a computer. Aside from there workstations, 9 oscilloscopes, 5 power supplies, 2 multimeters, a sweep generator, and a function generator are available for each student to use. There are many workstations in the Troxler Center, as well as a large workbench area for a group collaborations.

At ~2,000 sq. ft., the Troxler Design Center is the ECE Department's largest lab, and contains workspace and storage space as well as multiple meeting areas for group meetings or presentations.  Large, high-quality workbenches make up the 20 stations for project teams, which also include a dedicated computer for each team.  Cutting-edge test equipment and instruments are provided throughout the lab, thanks in large part to the generous donations of William F. Troxler and the Troxler family.  The lab also provides solder stations, lockers and multiple cabinets for team storage, and a networked printer.

Troxler Design Center

The Troxler Design Center is named in recognition of William F. Troxler, and is dedicated to the Department's Senior Design courses. Originally located in Daniels Hall, the center moved in the Fall of 2005 to a larger facility in Engineering Building II. This new location provided expanded workspace, new equipment, and 24-hour availability for students working on their design projects.
