Optical Communications Lab

The Optical Communications Lab is used by ECE 492K, the Optical Communications class. The purpose of ECE 492K is to cover the fundamental concepts of optoelectronic devices and photonic systems while emphasizing optical communications. The class itself is divided into three different parts. First the fundamentals of light, optics, and optical fibers will be introduced. Next the class will learn about optical transmitters and receivers. Finally optical system design and performance will be emphasized. All of these concepts will be reinforced in the laboratory every week in the Optical Communications Lab.
