Setting up your Outlook Express 6 account

  1. Go to the Tools menu and click on Accounts
  2. From there, click on Add > then Mail
  3. When Outlook opens a window and asks for your name, enter it in the provided box
  4. Next, Outlook will ask you for your email address. Normally, this looks like yourUnityID@ncsu.edu
  5. Next you will be asked to provide email server names. The incoming email server is the IMAP server. In the next box, type unityID.mail.ncsu.edu with unity ID as your user ID (e.g. jdoe.mail.ncsu.edu). The outgoing server is smtp.ncsu.edu.

  6. On the next page, enter your userID and password for your email account. Check the Remember Password box if you do not want to re-enter it every time you open Outlook.
  7. Click Finish - you will be asked if you would like to download files and folders from the mail server. Click Yes. Be patient. This may take a few minutes to complete. Your email account should now be up and running.

If you have any questions or problems, feel free to email ecehelp@ncsu.edu.
