How to Set Up AFS

  1. Download the NCSU AFS package from http://www.ncsu.edu/mac/downloads/openafs.ncsu.pkg.zip
  2. Double click on the file you just downloaded to unzip the package if it hasn't already been unzipped
  3. Double click on the .pkg file to begin the install.
  4. At the introduction screen, click Continue
  5. At the next screen, click Continue again, ignore the information about this package being for OS 10.1

  6. Read the license agreement and then click Continue
  7. Click agree in the dialouge box that pops up
  8. At the next screen, choose the disk where you want to install AFS and click Continue

  9. At the next screen click Install
  10. Enter your password when prompted
  11. When a dialouge box appears asking if you want to install the software now, click Continue Installation

  12. When the installation finishes, click Restart
  13. Double click the Mount_AFS application located in your Applications folder
  14. Enter your password when prompted
  15. Enter your unity id and password when prompted for your Kerberos Password

  16. At the next dialouge click Great! AFS should now be mounted on your desktop as well as in the /afs directory.
  17. There is also a folder on your desktop called AFSHOME, this will take you directly to your AFS space when AFS is mounted.
