A Departmental Ambassador is a current graduate student who volunteers his or her name and e-mail address to be made available so that incoming graduate students may contact them with questions they may have. Departmental Ambassadors should be able to answer questions concerning courses, professors, the department, the campus, and life as a graduate student.

The goal of the program is to allow international students a personal connection with a current NC State student to help ease the transition into their new surroundings. The transition is made easier by helping incoming students become acclimated to academic and social life at NC State.

Departmental Ambassadors are highly encouraged to give a personal welcome to new students whenever possible. They are also expected to assist Graduate Secretaries in publicizing events and encouraging new student's involvement in on- and off-campus activites. This will allow new students to adjust well in the first few weeks and months of attendance.

If you are interested in volunteering for a position as Departmental Advisor, please send the Office of International Students your: 1) Name 2) Department 3) E-mail

As a volunteer, your name and e-mail will be listed as a contact for your department on the OIS website for the 2005-2006 academic year. The OIS will be encouraging new international student to contact their Departmental Advisors this summer and fall
