Your computer only updates and restarts at 2am if their are updates that are needed. Generally updates are released once per month, except when they are highly critical. Unfortunately we cannot delay installing these updates, as it would put the NCSU network at great risk.

You can control when your machine will install the updates by manually updating your PC. If you would like to get a warning that updates are imminent, subscribe to the CERT Cyber Security Alerts list at http://www.us-cert.gov/cas/signup.html.
