In order to move your Netscape Address Book to a new mail application, you must first export your existing address book. This is necessary because of the proprietary format used in the Netscape Address Book.
This is also a useful tool for creating a backup of your address book data.
- Open Netscape on the server and go to Communicator -> Address Book
- From the Address Book window, select File -> Export. You will be prompted for a file name. It should default to /home/yourhomedirectory. Enter the file name after that. For example, /home/yourhomedirectory/addresses2003.ldif.
- Note the name and location of the file was created in the previous step. You will need to know that when you import this file into your Mozilla Address book
